DanaIt is cruel to kill wildlife, stop the hunt
P.J. ChinniciThere's no reason to do this terrible thing. Please re-think about this. Thank you.

Justin LimbertyThere is NO legit reasoning behind such a morbid, sick idea. These birds - and such a tiny population they have in the city as it is - are NOT a threat to anyone. Only a person(s) without a trace of conscience or humanity would even consider doing such a thing. There ARE other solutions besides killing, you know.

Lauren P. FletterichMonk Parakeets did not ask to travel to Spain to become pets They escaped and instinctively did what they needed to do to survive and procreate in a foreign land. I have seen this practice too many time and it makes me sick. Instead of using non lethal methods of control, humans have once again opted to be trigger happy, hunt and kill an inocent bird. This is undoubtably because it is less expensive, takes less work for the lazy and is more fun for the blood thirty to kill them, than to trap them and return them to the wild, where they came from, Brazil and Argentina. A parrot that was brought to Spain in the first place to become a loving pet and companion for a person, has suddenly become sentenced to death. It simply isn't fair.
Nicole Brooksplease help these parrots be safe
F.SneldersI do not belive man should distroy our wonderful wild life. The birds have got the right to live even so more than some peole who make these stuipd rules A bird lover you bet and proud of it as well Shame on Spain

Jennifer CunhaPOR FAVOR!!!

Kellie TorresI think that hunting these beautiful charming smart loveable birds is the cruelest means possiable. I think that just because they have failed to get a handle on the reproducing of this wonderful bird it it totally inhumane to put and open season on them. If people over produce in Spain do you put an open season on them, no so why do something this drastic and kill such a beautiful creature instead of trying to get the reproducing under control
Donna PowellThe culling that you have proposed for these harmless quakers has been duly posted on my blog. We are located in farm country, where mostly vegetables and grains are grown. The "damage" you claim is done by the quaker parrot is seriously overstated and misrepresented. I truly hope that cooler heads will prevail and that you will decide against the cull of these wonderful parrots.
Susan GasparrinoThere are many phenomenon which attract us to beautiful areas of our world. Barcelona has one such attraction, the parrots which have nested in their lovely city. To think that they would become known for the extermination of such wonderful birds is a horrific thought. Please refrain from this approach. You will be doing the world an unjustice.

AnonymousI will be in Europe in October, visiting several countries - Spain is now off my list!
Heather DonahueIt is poor ecology and poor management to hunt wild monk parrots Mass killings of animals and/or people as an answer to problems has not served mankind well in the recent past, or in the distant past. In addition to all the other reasons not to engage in these mass killings of parrots, why set such an example for Spanish youth and children? Mass killings are not the answer."

Arlene SteinbergThis is an outrageous and ill-considered slaughter of extremely intelligent and beautiful parrots. SHAME on Barcelona for this horrible idea. My family and I will boycott anything having to do with Spain and Barcelona until this despicable and barbaric idea is dropped. In an era when we are trying to save the planet and its diverse species, this concept is particularly loathsome.

Pieranna PieroniAs we've learned repeatedly, the kinds of practices we adopt today will have major consequences in the future, some we can't yet foresee. There are certainly more sustainable methods of wildlife population-management than wholesale slaughter. As stewards of the planet, I hope more people across the globe will work towards humane, rather than expedient, solutions.

Mary DeHartI dearly love Spain and have family there; nevertheless, I must protest this wild parrot hunt. These are beautiful, clever, intelligent and engaging animals that would bring much joy to your people if allowed to be just what they are. The hunt would last only so long, and what would there be to show for it? Nothing but dead birds. Coexisting with them can only enrich the lives of the people, and will also teach them about some of God's most beautiful and amazing creatures.
Pam AkemonPlease learn to co-exist with all nature. Man is not an island!
ruth hernandezvamos, vamos, que todos podemos vivir juntos. Dejen a los pajaros !
Steven GordonSpain, home of animal cruelty-the public torture and killing of bulls in open arenas. I'm not surprised that they would destroy lovely Parrots. The government of Spain should find ways to reverse culturally ingrained animal cruelty if it truely wants to be accepted in the EU.

Theodore S. TobiasMy wife and I had visited Spain four years ago, and Barcelona was one of the cities we had enjoyed . . . until now! I don't know the lethal means you mention, but I trust your good intentions. Good luck and thanks.
John W LadleyThese parrots did not choose to live in Spain, people brought them there, released them or possibly some have escaped over the years. Their only "crime" is that they have survived. Killing these animals is a foolish and shortsighted solution. At the very least capture the Quakers and make them available to avian enthusiasts for adoption. Then the animals will have the chance to live out their lives, albeit with diminished freedom
sharon hemingwayI am a longtime environmentalist and have a 32 Quaker flock. Not only will I do all of the above,I will continue to write and complain to anyone (group or government) I can think of,as well as media.and if there are 1500-2000 Quakers there (I kind of doubt), that is still not bad for a city like Barcelona

Susan JankowskiPlease DO NOT kill these birds!
melanie thompsonIsn't there a more sensible way to figure things out than hunting? Should we start hunting ignorant people or people that we see as a burden on our society?
Ashley HadenI have been to Europe several times, but I will not be heading to Spain until this matter is resolved. There are plenty of other options for limiting the populations of wild parrots and Barcelona should look into them. I can already see that there will be cases of the innocent, intelligent, and remarkable birds being tortured by the people simply because it's legal to kill him. In every ethical and moral way, this is wrong.

jennifer frankI own 3 quaker parrots. I feel we are very lucky in the United States to have these parrots in the wild. They have done no damage here. There are lots of wild quakers in Miami Florida where there are huge fruit orchards, quakers do no damage there. These are extremley intelligent little birds with a zest for life. I feel anyone who hunts them is completley ignorant.
