The petition
The involvement of George W. Bush and his administration including Richard (Dick) Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Karl Rove, as well as John Yoo and Alberto Gonzales, (hereafter referred to as "et al") in torture and other war crimes, and crimes against humanity is a matter of public record. A recent article identifies 267 international crimes committed by Bush and his administration in the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Presently, some 58 U.S. Congressmen are demanding an inquiry into laying charges against Bush. Several international tribunals have already ruled on substantial legal evidence of these crimes, and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Manfred Nowak has concluded there is proof of torture by Bush and other members of his administration.
The evidence against Mr. Bush et al goes far beyond the "reasonable and probable grounds" necessary to trigger Canada's legal duties to bar his entry to Canada and, once if he crosses the border,to prosecute him under Canadian Law and International Law.
We the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, of voting age, call upon the Government of Canada to abide by it's own laws, publicly stated policies, and international agreements it is has signed pertaining to War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity, as well as the Geneva Convention, and either:
1. bar George W. Bush et al from entering Canada at any time in the future, or
2. arrest, charge and prosecute George W. Bush et al for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity upon their arrival in Canada, or
3. arrest them upon arrival and transfer them to the International Court of Criminal Justice in the Hague to stand trial.
We also call upon police agencies operating under the Attorney Generals or Solicitor Generals of the various Provinces of Canada to take all necessary steps to enforce the relevant sections of the Criminal Code of Canada against George W. Bush et al, and those who aid and abet them, at any time they are known to be within Canada, as is your duty.
