Name: Anonymous on Jul 16, 2007Comments: I think building a bridge in the Andrew Haydon Park community will cost billions of dollars. There are certain residents in this area that I do not think would want to give up their homes for the construction of a bridge. There are residents in this area that enjoy the quiet environment and being able to walk in through the park. How many people do you think would move out of the area if a bridge were built In my opinion, this could be very bad for business and will be inconvenient for those who use Bayshore bus terminal as their form of transportation -- especially during rush hour.Flag

This in turn, is a great way to make a lot of money. I do not know where the money goes, but it is a great business. It would be a shame to watch it all go to waste. And where would families go to spend their Canada Day weekend Downtown is mostly for young people, not families.Flag

Name: Rob Sherwood on Jul 17, 2007Comments: who is the einstein who came up with the idea to build a bridge through Andrew Haden Park this person need his/her head adjusted!!! AHP is a well known and well visited park with thousands of visitors per week, if not daily. running a bridge through HP will destroy not only the park, but countless homes and lives within 300+ feet on both sides of Holly Acres road. if you look along the river on both sides of the Ottawa river here in the west end, you will see nothing but residential areas for miles. your ONLY other option is to dig a tunnel !!!! i live two blocks from AHP and will be, among many others that will be affected by a bridge through the park. your ONLY other option is to dig a tunnel !!!! if you simply build some more clover-leafs at the Queensway-Moody interchange and the dig in a north-east direction and come out along Boulevard Du Lucerne on the Quebec side. you not only save countless homes, you'll have your crossing with minimal damage.Flag

Name: Dan Sima on Jul 19, 2007Comments: As a resident living in the area of Cristal Beach, I am expressing my displeasure in the decision to erect a new bridge that connects to a major highway within my neighbourhood. Because my family and I reside within earshot of the new construction area, it is my strong feel that the noise of the additional bridge will be unacceptable for residential living. Because of the proximity of the new major highway bridge to the residential area concerned, all residences must be considered in the development of such a intrusive development that will make a significant impact on the living conditions and health of the local populous. As a stakeholder I was not informed, involved or considered in the decision to proceed with the bridge construction, and I trust that my opposition to this is clear.Flag

Name: Steve Parker on Jul 23, 2007Comments: If this project's desired site would truly mean the destruction of Andrew Haydon Park, this would be an absolute shame. The beauty of the Crystal Beach area is the proximity to such a wonderful park as well as a low amount of traffic, both of which would be undone by this project. I firmly believe that the most sensible location for this crossing is the Kanata site; I suspect that the majority of traffic on the current bridges is Hull to downtown Ottawa and Hull to Kanata as these comprise the majority of the Ottawa workforce.Flag

Think about residents, boat owner, marinas, animals, fishs...that will be affect by this.Flag

Name: Dr. Barry Smith on Jul 31, 2007Comments: It makes little sense to put a bridge through such valuable green space and through the widest part of the river. This area of Ottawa is perhaps the most recreational friendly in all of the city, attracting people for its beach, park, and water activities., ie, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking. It just doesn't make sense. Don't spoil it.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 3, 2007Comments: The only option for yet another bridge appears to be a connection from the intersection of Chemins Eardly and Perry to Riddell Road. This would break up the one-way traffic flows in Aylmer and open several options for connections to the 417. In view of the lack of viable options for further bridge construction, now is the time to live up to the government's commitment to public transit, and expand the O-train net into the province of Quebec via existing trusses. Now is the time for a general overhaul of the Ottawa/Outaouais public transit system to greatly increase its attractiveness and thereby its ridership.Flag
