Vancouverites! Let\'s be the first city in Canada to BAN PLASTIC BAGS forever! Canadians use about 6 billion plastic bags a year. They take up space in our landfills, consume oil and gas to make them, NEVER biodegrade, take up to a 1000 years to degrade but even still are found as particles in soil and water. Less than 3% get recycled and many end up as unsightly litter and make their way into the ocean and water ways where they suffocate and kill bird life, fish, dolphins, turtles and many more species.
