In the United states there has been a recent uprising in the use of the drug known as spice, or K2, or synthetic marijuana. Not a drug by design originally, spice was sold as an incense for candles. In 2010 the drug really took off causing 2,364 deaths nation wide. Then in 2011 the number jumped to 3,672 in that year alone, and the number is expected to multiply by 5 by the end of this year. The current number of reported deaths in the United States all-together is over 23,000. On 1July2012, the state of Florida joined other states and made possession of this drug a felony, however it is still legal to be sold to anybody 18 and over which makes it extremely easy to obtain. This is an epidemic in the US and a highly addictive drug, if it continues to be sold the number by the end of 2012 will be allot higher than 23,000 deaths.
