    Comments: I agree HOA'S I feel Should be a choice. If we want to take care of OUR OWN Property Inside and out we are grown we should have that choice..also if you choose to OPT in that is as well your choice. As far as paying a HIGH MONTHLY bill like I DO an extra $370 alone in HOA's with a special assessment and other situations roofing problems on all condos, siding problems, sugar aints problems, dry rotting problems and wet land problems trees being bogged down with these beetles and so on...these Condos were built in 1974 they are old. Alot of elders live in this communittee so they are liking that someone else takes care of their condo, but for younger folks whose paying a mortgage on top of that HIGH HOA and insurance , car note and so on.....damn it is alot. So what are we to do. If didn't have that HOA I would be so HAPPY.

    Comments: hoas are nonsense. they need to be done away with. when i bought my house there was no hoa. now that most of the lots are sold the real estate developer has started an hoa. we have no pool,basketball court, clubhouse ,etc. for this money to go to nor do we want any. besides i thought 51% of the homeowners had to be in agreement to start a hoa. what is this nazi germany? pissed off in asford subdivision myrtle beach sc

    Comments: I bought a home one year ago and it had a mandatory (Hoa). They billed me the unpaid payments of the previous owner and harrassed and charged late fees, interest, postage, etc. These HOA's are one of the biggest scams made legal in our country. How can we go about stopping these leaches?

    Comments: HOAs are HORRIBLY prone to abuse of their inmates! I lived in one - and ended up with a $175K total tab for a flower bed border identical to dozens of others - because so many lies were slung at us that we didn't know WHAT to correct..Led by an entrenched nasty attorney as chairman for over 9 years and suing 1/4 of the residents, throwing cases to his pals. Its a wonder that ANY of these hell holes are honest - there is no effective regulation so they tend to sink into the hands of the crookedest SOBs alive. Fix them or abolish them!!!
