This petition is for the purpose of banning the whistle buoy at Cape Kiwanda. The whistle is a form of noise pollution which is annoying and monotonous with a constant droning sound that is relentless and gets to the point that it creates stress. The whistle buoy was employed for a short time a few years ago and upon great protest from the citizens of Pacific City it was removed and the previously employed bell buoy was reinstituted. The bell buoy has served the intended purpose of maritime safety for many years with no publicly noticed accidents, or distressed victims. We see no positives in making this change and strongly oppose it’s implementation.
