Over 300,000 children (estimated) have been forced to work against their will without pay in cocoa plantations. 10 years ago the Harkin-Engel Protocol was created to try to end this terrible thing all the multi-national firms signed up. But over 10 years later nothing has actually hapened and the problem has gotten worse. We must get companies and government to change laws to protect the children of west africa from slavery in this industry. Many children as young as 10 are kidnapped and trafficked to another country eg. Ivory Coast. These chilren are abused, not educated, foced to work for hours without breaks in temperatures of 25 to 30 degress celsius. Many of them don't even know what chocolate is. We must help them.
