Water bottles have been a problem for years, as single use water bottles are often thrown away and end up polluting our rivers, lakes and oceans. This happens every single day, not only is it bad for the environment but using single use water bottles is a waste of money as tap water is tested, clean, free, and you can get it anytime you wanted to.

The production is also wasteful. It is estimated that actually 3 liters of water is used to manufacture 1 liter of bottled water. Even the creation of water bottles causes a large amount of pollution, it takes 1.5 million barrels of oil to meet the single use bottle demand. Approximately 80% of water bottles become litter and plastic bottles can take 1000 years to break down.

Finally, water is a finite resource, meaning we can run out. As we remove water from its source we affect the water cycle.

Brampton needs to join other cities like San Francisco and ban single use water bottles
