We, the undersigned, to hereby petition the Government of the City of Charlotte, North Carolina to prohibit the operation of motor vehicles on highways within the city limits of Charlotte, North Carolina that have been identified by the North Carolina Department of Transportation as “other principal arterial,” between the hours of 7:00am to 9:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm on non-holiday weekdays. Motorists on such roads during said hours impede traffic effecting thousands of people. Motor vehicles kill at least 2 North Carolinians each and every day, approximately 750 every year on public roadways. Untold millions die from enviromental pollution and obesity caused by motor vehicles in the State of North Carolina. Motor vehicles are UNSAFE, at any speed.
