As fans of the sport of hockey and patrons of the NHL, we are the people solely responsible for the continued existence of the largest governing body of professional Hockey in North America. We support the NHL in every imaginable way; from the attendance of games to the purchasing of hard and soft goods owned or licensed by the NHL. We support the NHL as an able and responsible governing body that continually strives to make North American hockey better and more enjoyable. One of the aspects that we believe makes the game of Hockey better includes player safety. However, we are now under the impression that the NHL has failed miserably in the area of player safety by continuing to allow the player known as Matt Cooke, to participate in the NHL despite his undeniable desire to cause harm to other players. Matt Cooke's passionate commitment to cause injury is not questionable or arguable. It is factually and irrefutably proven through video evidence and repeated offenses as well as supported by many of the highest ranking league employees and officials as well as numerous reputable writers and commentators. Continuing to allow Matt Cooke to participate in the NHL is both directly and indirectly condoning his violent and harmful behavior. We feel Matt Cooke is a danger to other players and has caused a great deal of harm to the credibility of the NHL as a responsible governing body. We do not support Matt Cooke's violent behavior and mental instability and therefore cannot/will not support the NHL any longer, in any form whatever, until the NHL takes steps to reassure us that it is committed to highest standards of player safety. By continuing our support of the NHL, we subsequently support Matt Cooke's behavior. We refuse to do so any longer. Therefore, we have committed ourselves to action by ceasing any/all further financial support of the NHL and all of its products until Matt Cooke is permanently ban from the NHL. Matt Cooke's permanent expulsion is the only form of action we find acceptable. We adamantly refuse to accept any types of compromises. Suspension is an unacceptable compromise as are fines. Only his full expulsion/ban will suffice in order to assure us that NHL player safety has once again become an area taken seriously by the NHL. Signed, Pending fans of the NHL
