Comments: I unreservedly support a total ban on the sale of fireworks to the general public in NZ. Having recently returned here to live, I am dumbfounded that this insane practice of unrestricted use of backyard fireworks is still condoned in this country when overwhelming evidence points to harm and danger to animals and humans.

Comments: I strongly recommend that we ban the wholesale purchase to the General Public of any form of FireWorx. I have no problems with controlled displays even though I still think them a total waste of money but I after nearly 60 odd years am distressed every year by having to endure the often suffering my poor dogs have too! If it was only for one day, one night then maybe I/we could cope with it, but its the continued days, weeks, months after its too much. I have had to put my dogs onto Valium from the Vet to calm them. All also at my expensense - What about all the other animals that have to endure without careing owners or the wild birds etc. Its absolutely ridiculous this ancient old, unrequired habit. It needs to be stopped once & forall. Let alone the expense its costing us rate payers & the risks involved to our poor Firemen risking their lives for this stupid so called Celebration. People having their houses burnt done all for a bit of fun. This is Tax payers, Rate payers money here. All for what!?! Come on NZ. Lets Grow up a bit & get real.
