Due to the recent rumors of new policies; we, the students, have decided to petition the administration & school district. We feel the new, excess amount of rules and regulations are distracting us rather than helping us. When someone constantly has to worry about if there breaking a rule, they can’t focus on education. Therefore, this effects the student’s ability to prosper in a non-healthy learning environment. We feel the rules are bad, but that is not what makes us mad. When a tax funded school kills democracy, then we become mad. We want a learning environment where students have the right to make important policy changes that affects our own learning capability. We are ready to fight for are rights, through peaceful and powerful movements. The students deserve a voice, and we would like are voices to finally be heard. Some rules we believe the administration has made or kept, that the students believe only hurt the learning environment: • Ban on purses (rumored) • Ban on backpacks (rumored) • Ban on yoga pants (rumored) • Ban on food • Ban on drinks • Ban on cell phones • Ban on certain types of clothing • Switch to 7 class format • And many others This is not a petition by solely one student. It is the unified voice, of ALL students. We deserve to be heard. We would like for the administration to start to take steps where students actually have the ability to begin to participate in the policy making process.
