"Balcombe Road Post Office is a vital part of the social and economic fabric of our local community. Its closure would obviously affect all existing customers, but would have a major impact on the elderly and less mobile.
The postmistress, Ms Johal, is an asset to the local community, contributing a valued service from which we all benefit; it would be a real tragedy if this closure went ahead.
The closure plan is especially unjustified in light of the large scale housing development taking place in the Balcombe Road catchment area; and we are very concerned about the ability of the Post Office in Consort Way to cope with extra demand without serious inconvenience to customers".
