Name: Aled on Jan 27, 2013Comments: I would like to see a broader discussion on any extension routes, but I must personally declare an interest in seeing any extension to the Bakerloo Line following the A2 down Old Kent Road to South East London. As you look of a map of London, it is the mid point between areas serviced by the East-bound Jubilee and South-bound Northern and Victoria lines from Elephant. Apart from being the logical direction in which to extend the service as you look at it on a map, Bricklayers Arms Roundabout was earmarked and designed as a placeholder for an Underground Station and an extension in this direction would mean the fulfilment of the potential of this space. A stop at the recently regenerated Burgess Park would even go some way towards making Old Kent Road a destination. PS: There are 15 bus routes passing through Camberwell!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 1, 2013Comments: Yes this is an extremely wise comment to have an open minded approach to the Bakerloo line extension in order to satisfy all South Londoners. In my opinion a feasibility study should be conducted to see if both a through route via Old Kent Road/New Cross to Lewisham AND a branch route to Camberwell could be constructed. This would support the overcrowded buses of Old Kent Road as well as the much needed connection to Camberwell. The benefit of having the branch line would mean that during peak times trains originating from Camberwell would be able to deal with the busy stations of Elephant & Castle and Waterloo. More importantly this would put all these areas on THE map and by that I refer to the Map of the London Underground which has been long overdue and would promote regeneration of an area that has been forgotten by politicians for too long. The tunnel boring machines being used on the Crossrail project could easily be transferred over to this project to minimise the cost of the project.Flag

Name: John Bingham-Hall on Feb 4, 2013Comments: As a long-term resident of New Cross I feel strongly that the economic stagnation of the Bermondsey, Old Kent Road, Lewisham etc corridor is due in large part to inaccessibility and is preventing it from becoming the mixed and successful part of inner London it should be. A Bakerloo Line extension route linking Walworth, North Camberwell, North Peckham, OKR, New Cross & Lewisham would benefit all of these areas across all sections of society.Flag
