Hello,
We as Baillieston are a growing community as we can see from down at places such as the new houses at Broomhouse. Recently have begun to worry about the fact that there are a lot of new families moving into the area with young children. When I was leaving primary school just as people were moving into the houses, Caledonia Primary and St Francis Primary's numbers both went up. Round aboutthe same time the James Murray Centre went on fire. As being a youth living in this community it has been hard for me to watch friends start to do things like drink, smoke and do drugs, because there is no-where to go and nothing to do. What Baillieston needs is a community centre so that we can get people off the streets and so that the people living in the houses don't think they have made the wrong decision because there is no where for there kid to go with out them worrying about them. The Place that I would be thinking about asking our local MP to open as a community centre would be at the old police station on Baillieston main street. Tonight I will be putting up an on-line petition for people to sign to show Margaret Curran that we really do need something like that.
