I'm signing this petition because I care greatly for the University of Texas and I am tired of seeing its major athletic teams become an embarrassment to the school and the state. The major athletic programs, particularly the football program, are in total disarray and nothing is being done to fix the problem. The school administration has already let the programs morph into virtual laughingstocks which will take years to return to their rightful stature. We, the alumni and fans of the programs, insist that the athletic director, DeLoss Dodds, and all underperforming coaches of the football, basketball and baseball programs be replaced with individuals that have a proven record of success. It is especially galling to have Mack Brown making $5 million per year while setting all-time UT records for incompetence, not to mention getting pummeled by schools like OU (and more recently BYU) year in and year out. As stewards of the university, we insist that you perform the duties you have been hired to do and immediately make the necessary decisions to return the university's programs back to their former glory.
