There should be some way to distinguish family visitors and grant them the 6-month stay. Otherwise, for a lot of the recent immigrants, they have to choose between their new home-country and family. I think we deserve a break.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 8, 2002Comments: Common sense in implementation of this regulation would assit. There is a substantial number of vistors who visit this country whose needs are for a period more than 30 days. Especially elderly people who travel more than 10,000 miles, cannot afford to make such trips often., Additionally such long trips are very expensive. The people from the Indian sub-continent visit the US to meet with their sons/ daughters every 3 - 4 years. A longer visit would also be required to visit this vast and beautiful country. Hence a lot of care needs to be used when implementing this regulation. ThanksFlag

Name: Magee Todd on May 8, 2002Comments: Hi, I recently got my Green card and I was thinking of taking my old and helpless parents for 6 months. The news of restrcting the visitors visa came as a big upset. I am from India and I am living in US for the last 4 years. The life is full of stress and tensions. We take all the problems in a foreign country and work hard to make this country to prosper. Our country is the sole representation of democracy and broker for peace and non voilence and country of GANDHI. The immigrant population from India made miracles for the internet economy of US and we saw the boom. In a current market situation we stick to the job and with the company and sacrifice every thing to keep the job. We do not develop habit of boating or gliding or parasailing and since we are asians we have a habit of talking and sharing our thoughts by talking and inviting others to our home so that we could get some mental piece. In america our reach and freedom is limited to our home. I was eagely waiting to invite my american colleagues to my home or I am willing to go to their home to share some culture and heritage of each other. The american's here does not seem to be interested in me or any thing about me. It is not just about money for any immigrants. They miss every bit of life of his stay in US. I really mean it.We are happy to preserve our culture and frequntly visit our home countries and invite some body there for the summer (which lasts for just 3 months) My parents are living in a hot place and they cannot visit in any other season. The weather and life in country makes all of us sice and we are jailed in out apartment and car for the 8 or 9 months of winter. We have enough restrictions on us. Please do not come up with new restriction on visitors visas. If you go ahead then it becomes the victory of the terrorists. I think citizens of this country lost lot of their freedom and mental piece after the terrror attacks. We dont want more restricitions. You can ask for more documents and implement new procedures but keep the 6 months visitor visa period. I dont think my old father who does not understand the american english could speak to INS in the airport make his case and get the visa approval from them.Flag
