Name: Mike Longmore on Dec 26, 2006Comments: This is the first time I have head of the closure. Were I not directed to this site I would been none the wiser. I use the road nearly every day and a deture is not only an additional cost in fuel but also my time. I would also like to take this oppertunity to mention the state of the roads. Last August 5th 2006 I had a motorcycle accident at the section of road by Manor adventure. I shattered my collar bone and broke a couple of ribs and wrote the bike off. There was a trough in the road filled with gravel and a couple of potholes around a manhole cover that caused me to loose control. I had dated photographs taken of the area and submitted them to my solicitor. What was returned from the council was that the road had been inspected very coincidentally on the 4th of August and by the 8th of August the area had been repaired. At the moment it seems that a cursory recorded inspection is all that the council need to exonorate them from responsibility. I intend taking my action further any help or advice would be greatly appreciated I would also welcome a move to reduce the speed on the road, particulary through the villages and would add my voice to any such action. In conclusion I think I speak for the majority when I say that I am sick and tired of the inconvienience along this road with what seems like a complete lack of consideration and regard for locals and road users alikeFlag

Name: Judith Dean on Dec 28, 2006Comments: Why, suddenly, has the council decided that this road is too narrow (see quote in Shropshire Star from Gareth Proffitt) to close half of it when I have driven to work everyday for what seems months whilst the roadworks between Munslow and Diddlebury have been able to successfully manage to use traffic lightsFlag

Name: Russell Drew on Dec 28, 2006Comments: This is just another thoughtless diversion created by some bureaucrat that probably never uses this stretch of road to commute. For the past 6 months we've been dogged by roadworks at some point or other on the Ludlow to Much Wenlock stretch, infact last year I decided to drive past the road closed signs between Munslow and Bourton and surprise surprise for the last 3 weeks of this road closure no work was being carried out. There is no need to close this stretch of road. A decent contractor could complete that amount of work in less than a weekend.Flag

My partner also works in Ironbridge, and this will seriously effect his commuting to work! Over the last year a signicant amount of road works and traffic lights have already been placed upon this road, so surely the road can stay open with yet more traffic lights.Flag

Name: Marc Gaunt on Dec 29, 2006Comments: Its a joke, the road has had traffic lights controlling traffic for months now with little inconvenience to commuters such as myself. On this basis why is safety deemed to be an issue now in terms of keeping one side of the road open Why can't traffic contol vehicles be followed if safety is a concern so as to keep the road open but speeds to a minimum The issue is, how many members of the council have a 40mile commute each day Very few I would imagine hence its now issue to them!Flag
