Name: Mark Salt on Sep 16, 2005State:Country: UKComments: This is a unique RAF unit for a unique conflict. We are so often prepared to sell off our history, forget it and then wait for a future generation rediscover it and then go "Oops what were they thinking of". The Royal Navy has preserved HMS Victory from another great battle, what is wrong with preserving another piece of more recent history which was a little nearer to home. At least a quarter of the pilots involved in the Battle of Britain came from the Commenwealth or other countries lets not forget that. Lets preserve it for the nation and future generations, if not and things are supposed to be created equal lets get rid off for example the Victory, The Magna Carter, HMS Belfast, The IWM, The Natural History Museum, The Cutty Sark, The Stone of Scone, I could make the list endless. Per Ardua Ad Astra.Flag

Name: Adrian Angove on Jan 17, 2006State:Country: UKComments: The disposal of RAF Bentley Priory by the MoD would be a national disgrace of monumental proportions. It cannot even be considered as a possibility. Custody of the building and the immediate grounds must be passed to The Imperial War Museum, properly funded and opened to the public as a fitting and permanent monument to the memory of "The Few" who were instrumental in saving this country and its people from eternal servitude to a foreign country.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 11, 2006State:Country: AUComments: I lived in London during the Battle of Britain, and read with amazement that there is even any THOUGHT about selling Bentley Priory. This is part of British history and should be preserved and displayed with pride...perhaps Mr. Blair and his government does not have this. Winston,s comment about :their finest hour and the memory of the pilots who fought and died seems to have little relevance. But make sure that the public can see it.Flag

Name: John Chant on Jul 27, 2006State:Country: NZComments: Bentley is a shrine and a national treasure. Before Dowding was Admiral Lord Nelson. I served here as a Junior Technician draughtsman in 1955 and 1956. Only ignorant vandals would destroy a great piece of British history such as this.Flag
