Austin Road Elementary School in Stockbridge, Ga has a very lax Car Rider Program. There is one coach who stands out there in the mornings and the same coach stands out there in the afternoons. One person for all of these kids. He is often distracted and it is impossible for one person to keep watch over all of the kids coming out to get into cars. There are kindergartners, as young as 4 and 5 years old coming out to get into cars by themselves. No one helping them in or out of cars. They must pass through traffic to move through the cars to find their ca (by themselves). I have tried to get in to talk to the Principal only to be told they would have him call me. I have written the Superintendent, twice. No reply. I have videos of this situation. They are posted on my Facebook page. I will be getting more videos of this. I want them to put at least six people (adults) out for car riders for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. There needs to be an adult to open the doors for the first four cars in line and get the kids out or put them in the cars-safely. There needs to be a person to supervise all of this. And there needs to be a person to call out the numbers through the walkie-talkies. There needs to be a better system for finding the children based on the car rider numbers. (They couldn't find my kids for 15 minutes today!) This situation can be fixed, they just need to get the motivation to do so. I think by signing this petition, you can help me motivate them to face this issue. I do not want it to take a child's injury or death for them to do something about this. I'm sure you don't either. Please help me get Austin Road Elementary School to see how important this is. Thank You.
