Please leave comments: Audie Murphy was not only a hero in World War II. To other WWII veterans, like my own father, he was a hero after the war, because he helped increase awareness of what we now call war-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, thus helping many vets and their families deal with PTSD issues. For those reasons alone, I think Audie Murphy deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
