Mr. Efrem Zimbalist Jr, (Signature number 7702) well-known Hollywood stage and screen actor and the father of actress Stephanie Zimbalist has endorsed the petition for Audie Murphy. Mr. Zimbalist is best known for his roles in "77 Sunset Strip" and as Inspector Lewis Erskine in the hit TV series, "The FBI" which ran from 1965 through 1974.
He is a veteran of the ETO in WWII and was severely wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Zimbalist is also an 'honorary' FBI agent having been presented his credentials by FBI Director Robert Mueller in 2009.

"Doolittle Raider" Edward Saylor, the Engineer/Gunner of Crew 15 of the "Doolittle Raiders" signed the petition as signature #7601.Mr. Saylor was a Sergeant at the time of the raid in 1942, and continued to serve in the USAF after the war obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. There were 80 men who participated in the raid, and Mr. Saylor at age 90 is one of only five living "Doolittle Raiders."The raid was conducted in 1942, shortly after Pearl Harbor, as Jimmy Doolittle led 16 B-24's over Tokyo. Mr. Walter Ehlers, (signature #7518) a WWII Medal of Honor recipient who earned the Medal of Honor during WWII at D-Day signed the petition for Audie today. He also added a very nice and thoughtful comment about Audie. Mr. Ehlers landed on "Omaha Beach" in the first assault element of the second wave. He is the last surviving D-Day Medal of Honor recipient. He earned the Medal of Honor as a Squad Leader on D+3 at Goville, France.Mr. Ehlers had orinally been a member of the 3rd Division but shortly after shipping oversea's had been transferred to the 1st Division.The historical events of the 1st Infantry Division are very well depicted in the 1980 Samual Fuller film, "The Big Red One" starring Lee Marvin.Mr. Ehlers and his brother both served in North Africa and at Anzio with the 1st Division.
