Name: Anonymous on Nov 13, 2007Comments: It is unfortunate that a lot of children get seriously injured riding ORV's. The fact remains that children and young adults are not taught the proper riding skills and are left to learn on there own, which becomes a huge issue. Passing a law to prohibit children from riding ORV's and further making it a DSS issue is not the proper way to solve the problem of children getting injured riding ORV's. Adults need to be educated on proper supervision and riding skills for there children. This is the same way people chastized ATC's back in the 80's and put a ban on them, it didn't solve any thing. The big problem is rider error and improper riding skills, the ORV's are only as dangerous as the individual riding or the supervision of the rider.Flag

Name: Bruce A. Flickinger on Nov 13, 2007Comments: It doesn't matter the age of the OHV user, what matters is the proper education for said use. Operating OHV's is only as dangerous as the rider ... and with proper training and supervision, it is a VERY safe activity. I would much rather have my child riding a dirt bike or a four wheeler than hanging out in seedy neighborhoods smoking crack, brawling and spray-painting the sides of buildings. YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SAFETY CONCERNS Take a walk downtown and look at what is going on, in the old mills, in the shopping malls, in the streets. MUCH more of a safety concern than enjoying an off road sport.Flag

As we all know children can be hurt in hundreds of ways, many accidents occur in the home, en route to school etc.Flag
