Name: Jeff McElearney on Oct 17, 2009Comments: I have had trying to cancel their cellphone service since February of this year. The problem was that I had no service at my house. I called them and they told me that they were working on the problem and that they would give me a couple months free service if I stayed with them. One month goes by and my service has not improved. I called and they said it should have that they fixed the tower and added another in my area. I asked to cancel at that time and they said they could continue the service for free. That they will give another month for staying with them. The sill comes and I only see one month of free service, so I call them and they said "if I cancel now, they will back charge me for the months the so called gave me." I tried to cancel then and to my astonishment, I was not canceled. The bill grew and they expected me to pay it. I told them that they were suppose to give me the months free and that I should have a zero balance. They did not care, and told me the bill was due. I just paid the bill thinking they would go away. They did not cancel and they charged me for more months. All of this should have been typed up in their logs. I find out that nothing negative of their doing has been logged. I told them that I paid it off and it should of been canceled. They said it has not been and that I owe for the next couple of months even when they could clearly see that the service had not been used. I refused to pay the difference and they just called me about my experience. So called customer service! Here it is - "Hello this is so and so from AT&T cellular services, we are calling to find out about your experience with us to improve our customer service." I replied that it should be in the logs and they could read them! - Her rude reply was "that if I did not have the time, then that was too bad, that she was going to ask specific questions. Then she hung up. Now, is that not great customer service or what I want to cancel my other services with them. I am looking into it asap. To all of you out there that expect to get loyalty and truth from them, GOOD LUCK!Flag

I’m in sales and I travel 5 days a week and I’ve called and logged numerous complaints about the amount of dropped calls and failed calls. ATT warranty replaced my blackberry bold, which i paid 700 for at their retail store, this summer and now they want to do it again. I’ve worked with att to troubleshoot my phone and they say I haven’t worked with them enough. Att admits there is a problem with the coverage at my house and they admitted it back in the summer as well yet they refuse to fix it. I have received no monetary compensation for my time or the poor service and despite all of this, I still paid my bills every month. Att has promised to fix it yet nothing has changed over the past year and will not let me out of my contract. Att has promised callbacks of which I’ve received none. They’ve promised to fix it and ive got nothing but wasted time on my hands. At this point, I want a refund for services and I want out of my contract.Flag

Name: Kelly on Feb 4, 2010Comments: AT&T canvassed my neighborhood to drum up business for the U-Verse product and after months of having people come to the door, it sounded like a good idea to switch. We have had this service, with many issues, for a year now. The last 2 months spent trying to get resolution for their deceptive business practices. We were installed Feb 2009 and have had severe interruptions in service where everything (tv, phone and internet) all stop working. Probably close to 40 times a day. We have called and complained from the start and had several technicians out to the home, yet they can never fix the issue. In December 2009 we had 3 technicians out to the home within a week. The last 2 techs agreed that the issue was signal strength being far beneath what would be acceptable...the reason? Well, apparently we are well over 1000 feet too far from their equipment to receive a decent signal. So their recommendation was to cancel service and get a refund. They installed us when they should have told us we were too far away. We have spent the last 2 months trying to get resolution. We have been told that the only offer they are willing to give us is a one month credit. And that was only offered after we filed complaints with the BBB, FCC, Indiana Utilities Regulatory Commission and the Indiana Attorney Generals office. They still hold firm that the one month is all we will be offered and claim that in the terms of service agreement it states that they are NOT liable for interruptions. (However, there is no defined guideline of what is "normal" and what is excessive. And nowhere in the terms of service does it absolve them from any legal liability if, as in our situation, they install you when you are too far away to receive a strong signal strength. I have emailed the CEO 11 times so far with no response. We have only been called by someone in the executive offices three times, and when I asked her what the CEO's name was, she gave me the wrong name! AT&T will gladly take your money, but when in the wrong, they hide and won't give it back. The lady at the executive office repeatedly talked over to me and talked down to me. She refused to listen and was very rude. Buyer beware with any product AT&T has to offer. We are dropping all services and will pay more to have someone else get our business. We have been loyal AT&T customers for over 12 years, yet apparently they don't care at all about our patronage. They just see $$ signs. A fair resolution would be to give us the $2000 we have spent for service in the last year....they act like it will bankrupt them!Flag

Sales reps don't follow up. We can''t get through to anyone over the phone who can resolve the complaints, complaints sent by certified mail to AT&T corporate offices are returned as undeliverable. Can't get a resolution. Instead they threaten our credit and future advertising. We have been a $20,000+ advertiser for years. It should not be this hard to get a resolution!Flag

Name: April Crites on Dec 14, 2010Comments: Oh, wow! We switched to uVerse, and we only did so after the salesperson offered a discount on the package and a $100 rebate Visa card. It was a lie. AT&T refused to honor what was promised, and because the customer isn't eligible for the rebate until after 30 days of service, on day 31 when you verify the Visa reward and they then inform you that the salesperson wasn't authorized to offer that reward, you are then outside the 30-day cancel period, and they tell you you can't cancel without violating the contract. Wow, what a racket! So very deceptive and if it isn't illegal business practices...why isn' t it? We have everything with AT&T -- cell, land lines (2), uVerse, and on the 365th day of this contract, we get rid of all of it. We refuse to give a business like this our money. I hope others do the same. I would encourage everybody to pursue filing complaints with their state attorney general and any and all consumer advocacy groups.Flag
