Gays are getting married, immigration is getting attention, and we recently elected the first black president of the United States; all great things in my opinion. But at the same time, a single atheist's plight to have the words "under God" removed from our Pledge of Allegiance is rarely ever seen in the media and recently suffered a major blow on March 11, 2010 when a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided by a 2-1 vote that “the Pledge is constitutional.” Michael Newdow is virtually alone in his fight, even though many of us sympathize with his cause. The problem is we atheists are scattered. We never speak with one voice (you can't count a Richard Dawson lecture). My question is "do you think it is time for atheists to organize and be heard in Washington?" If so, please sign our petition.
