A museum for the Houston Astros, Houston Oilers, Monster Truck rally's, Dirt Bike rally's, all the great performers that have been there, the HLS&R. It could also be a stadium for the high school football and baseball championship games.Flag

I find it hard to believe that there is nothing exciting to do with this great venue. Please remember the "hearts of Houstonians" in making your decision. In other words, SAVE THE ASTRODOME.Flag

Name: Kenneth Kraebel on Jul 24, 2010Comments: So we are looking to knock down the world's first sports dome stadium and past 8th Wonder of the World? Now, I can see in the future 30 years down the road, people will tell their kids how they miss the astrodome and wish it was still there. Houston, do not walk way from this classic sports cathedral in your own backyard. Hold on to a tradition vs. some vision that may not work. Use it for a Houston sports museum, your city has plenty of good sports history right?Flag

Name: Stephen Johnson on Oct 25, 2010Comments: Growing up, the Astrodome was like a second home. If we weren't there cheering on the Oilers or the Astros, we were there for the Rodeo. Houston is infamous for surrendering its historic buildings to the tide of "progress." It would be a shame if the Astrodome fell prey to a similar fate.Flag

Name: Stephen Pollard on Nov 6, 2010Comments: Come on Harris county...I know it's old and is costing lots of money to upkeep, but lets keep SOMETHING from the great space era which was what Houston is based upon...remember?Kinda seems like the whole idea is to crowd out the great dome with all of the "new"buildings without regard to what started it all for Houston sports. Not meeting safety code...well you have to update things for it not to slide so far out of date it will cost a fortune to bring it back. Not enough water pressure to run the sprinklers... with all of the other unecessary buildings around I would guess not! Another stab from the Texans and the rodeo association to get rid of the Astrodome for more convienent parking...oh wait..that was Astroworld...sad days in H town!!!!Flag

Name: Dan Maxey on Feb 16, 2011Comments: I've heard it compared to the Eiffel Tower. There is no comparison to between the Astrodome and the Eiffel Tower. I feel the Astrodome belongs in a much higher category than that. How about the Empire State Building, Hoover Dam, Brooklyn Bridge, ect... Unmatched symbols of American ingenuity. Pieces of history which show the world what greatness can stem from a free society. Is it worth loosing that example for future generations simply because a few greedy sports team owners felt it wasn't making them quite enough money anymore?Flag

Name: Tim McKay on May 10, 2011Comments: Save the Astrodome by turning the upper levels into hotel rooms, stores and restaurants, while keeping the lower levels (around 25-30,000 seats) and field level usable for major high school football / baseball games. You could allow guests to stay year-round and while it's not in-season for baseball / football you could have conventions and other things there.Flag

Name: Mark on Jun 20, 2011Comments: Instead of building reliant stadium they should have used the money to refurbish the Dome and put it back to use!! It would be a horrible shame if one of the greatest stadiums in sports history was no more. I love this place and agree it should be refurbished and used again. Play some Rice and U of H games there as well as high school football playoff gamesFlag

Name: Spencer Yambrich on Aug 2, 2011Comments: i say they should fix the 1965 era part of the park and remove the outfield parts added in the late 80s. To get some events i think they should move all rodeo, monster jam,and conserts from next door and have the Astros play 4-5 series at the astrodome. Also u could move the 2 or at least 1 pre season Texans games at the dome u could even have the titans play a game here in retro uniesFlag

I do t think it should be transformed into some kind of alternative venue like a casino, movie studio, or hotel. the dome should be preserved, rbroght up to code ands put back to work.Flag
