The issue with the current rules are that there is no scientific evidence that a larger dog (1 up to 70 lbs) can create more damage to a lawn than 2 smaller dogs (2 dogs up to 35 lbs each), which is the current allowable dog size and rules. The other issue is that there continues to be lawn issues with smaller dogs and I would argue that the problem is continuously the dog owner, not the dog. Larger dogs can be managed just as well as 2 smaller dogs can by their owners to appropriately take care of the lawn and be trained to not disturbe neighbors. By signing this peition I support the change of the current Cranberry Ridge Association's rules on banning dogs over the weight limit of 35 lbs. I would support changing the rule to allow over weight dogs for a fee of $200 per year, per dog with the dog also being "registered" through the association for their approval of the size limit (the fee and size limit is negotiable). This fee is recommended to be placed in the associatoin's budget of lawn care in order to help maintain the lawn care and cover other issues the dogs may create.
