Aren't Asylum Seekers just the same as we are?
Everyone deserves the right to be free. Imagine you're on a rickety old boat that's just come out of a war ridden country. You're lost, your children are terrified, they keep asking you if everything is going to be alright, the worst part is that you CAN'T tell them what they want to hear, because you're not so sure anymore. You don't know where you're headed, or if you'll ever get there. You don't know what your next meal will be, or whether you'll have one. Finally you see land, it's a miracle! When at last you're sure that you're safe, you are told that you have a choie to make, either go back to where you came from, or go to a Detention Centre. Australia prides itself on mateship and multiculturalism, so what makes Asylum Seekers different? We're all human.
