South Carolina is one of a handful of states that makes Pro Wrestling companies, wrestlers, managers, referee's and announcers all get licensed to perform Sports ENTERTAINMENT. NOTE that Dinner Show's such as Pirates orMedievalTimes do NOT have to be licensed to do their shows.) Next year, the cost for a Pro Wrestler License will be raised 650% from $10.00 to $75.00. Along with the yearly physical changes to obtain said License from the South Carolina Athletic Commission. They are now requiring, a doctor submit the physical along with HiV Testing and Hep. Testing. South Carolina already has a NO BLEED policy, So this also seems to be a major overstep. The referee's license is also increasing from $25.00 to $75.00. Which is a 500% increase, along with letter of reference from three people in the community that you can be impartial. Pro Wresting is SPORT'S ENTERTAINMENT, it is no secret that show's are scripted for the Fan's ENTERTAINMENT. This stipulation for a referee is over step also. An Announcer has to obtain a License and it too has been increased to $75.00. Most Wrestling show's running in the State are Indie Show's that draw 25 to 200 people at the average price of 8.00 for admission. This will put these SMALL, LOCAL, MOM AND POP"S companies out of business. The goal of this Petition is to get the South Carolina Athletic Commission to reconsider these step increases for SPORT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Pro Wrestling is NOT an Athletic Event, Pro Wrestling is NOT a COMPETITION SPORT, so one would even wonder why it would even fall under the Athletic Commission to begin with. A 650% increase in license fee's is OVER KILL and will NOT increase revenues and will do the opposite of creating more local small companies because it will put them out of business. A 100% increase would be more in line to cover new cost and such to pay for the Athletic Commissions cost. $10.00 to $20.00 is more in line with inflation of times, but 650% is too much.
