| 853 | Anonymous | Regretable, and humiliating. As a Nigerian-American Im saddened that this has happened and hope our collective response can bring our communities closer together, and shed light on how we can collaborate to affect change... |
| 854 | Nina Ahmad | Such divisive and hurtful comments only fuel my determination to be part of the solution to build meaningful bridges to all communities. |

| 856 | Darryl Byrd | If Mr. Eng was in AP or honors classes he must had been asleep during history. Hopefully his poorly written and conceived article will spur more dialog between the Asian American and African American communities. What was the editor thinking in printing this? Obliviously he wasn't. What has happened to journalistic ethics, integrity or judgement? The editor has neither and should be fired immediately. |
| 857 | Alfred Foung | Asian Americans have been the victims of racial profiling for centuries. Have we learned not to do to others? It is time to act not with malice nor toward retribution, but to unite and to work toward equality for all people. |
| 858 | Kellene Lambert | I am not shocked by this piece but I am discussed that a media source would print such adverse commentary. I feel that all people of color have suffered by the hands of my own personal race and for that I am truly sorry. People need to understand that different cultures are what makes this country truly unique. I personally am on a mission to change this unearned white privilege that was forced upon me by the people of my race. Unity is what is truly needed in this country and that piece just took us 200 years of steps backwards. |
| 859 | Anonymous | Protests of bigotry and requests for an apology come to late to a people that are subjected to continued demonstrations of hatred and discrimination. Generations of African-Americans have given to this country and have asked only to share equally in the prosperity of this country. History has documented the struggle, the work efforts, the successes and the failures of the African-American and African-Americans still do not measure up. In the words of Prof. Taeku Lee, UC at Berkeley, "A lot of immigrants come here with a real sense of where African-Americans are in the social hierarchy". Thank you Dr. Lee for having that quotation printed in black and white. America, that statement does not come from an African-American but highly probably from the interactions between a mainstream American to an unsuspecting immigrant, or from a non-minority American tourist visiting another country, casually making a remark to member of another culture, about “those African-Americans. Bigotry begins at home and spreads abroad by the more affluent traveling American into all parts of the world. Mainstream America continues to send out their poison dripped upon them by their forefathers about African Americans and the newly arriving immigrants eager to please and eager to get a foot hold in this country buys into the story-line of the ugly African-American. Yet, each new wave of immigrants into this country sets up their businesses in the African-American communities, leaving and taking from that community, and reinvesting those African-American dollars where they live, with the non-minority groups of this country. Yet, these new Americans have the audacity to take from and to take for granted the African-American communities, and to believe the worst of the African-Americans.
The African-American successful transition from slavery to full citizenship in this country is any immigrants’ story. Yet, African-Americans are characterized and lumped together with the stereotypical image blasted from Hollywood’s portrayal of us, being less productive, less oriented towards education, and an overall less desirable citizen. As an African-American female, who comes from a fully functional black family, I can testify that we are not less productive, or less concerned with education than any other population group in America. We are comparable to others aspiring for a better future for ourselves and our families. We are a productive group of people, seeking and making opportunities, or just maintaining what we have. We are resilient and pliable; we absorb the ugliness of this country and expect and protect ourselves from the onslaught of misgivings, distrust, disrespect and oversight that are handed to us everyday from the peoples of this country, including our own, yet we continue to thrive, survive, and prosper.
Immigrants should become more familiar with the American history of African-Americans in this county. They should connect the dots between our struggle and their own struggle in their native land. Immigrants should know and remember it was the condemnation of the inhuman American system of slavery, the continued fight of American born slaves, and economic factors within the U.S. that resulted in the release of the American slaves from slavery. But it is the continued fight for full equality of the African Americans that have procured the place in this country for all minority groups that have settled in this country.
I am tired. I am tired of having to explain my "African-Americaness". I am tired of having to apologize for celebrating Black History Month. I am tired of having to prove that I am as capable as another. I am tired of not being able to claim all of my ancestors. I am tired of not knowing where my people came from. I am a tired African-American woman and I do not want your apologies. I want what you want; to live in peace and in safety; to live in a society that values my being, to pursue my dreams and aspirations, and to have those things come to fruition because I have the full support of a society that judges me by the content of my character and not by the color of my skin.
You hate me because you do not know me. |

| 861 | L McKinney | Hatred of others usually begins with self hatred. It is unfortunate that the owners and editors of this paper don't know the difference between diversity and providing a forum for hate-mongering. |
| 862 | Brett C. Morrison | This is sad. We as PEOPLE still have a LONG WAY TO GO. |
| 863 | Rosemary Robinson | Don"t we have enough hatred in this world? As one minority member to another, we are fighting some of the same battles. Shouldn't we try to be more supportive of one another? Ethnic pride should not derive from bringing dishonor to any other group of people. |

| 866 | May-lee Chai | Kenneth Eng's columns using hate speech to attack African-Americans, Asians and white people are diatribes and hurtful to all of us living in this wonderfully nation of ours. He does not speak for anyone but himself. It was highly irresponsible of the editors of AsianWeek to print his column and tragic when you consider that there are so many good APA writers who could have written thought-provoking, well-written, and intelligent columns about race and, yes, even racism but who were not given this opportunity. Eng's columns were mindless rants. This is not journalism; this is hate speech. |
| 867 | Bill Trac | |
| 868 | Hong, Lauren | I am deeply saddened and concerned about what has happened as of this day. I regret that despite the fact that we may have diverse opinions and a freedom of speak, we should be also be considerate of others and the impact that may have in the society as a unit and a community. Diversity may only survive whent there is harmony and respect. Blunt statement of unprified thoughts are sometimes valuable, but ideas of this kind should not be of any value at all. |

| 873 | Alona | absolutely terrible journalism. |
| 874 | Anonymous | A truly ignorant young man, who probably listens to rap music and wears uban clothing.
He's most likely disgruntled and angry with our race because his ex ( young asian lady) is now dating a Afro-American Man, whom has more going on than Mr. Eng ever will.
Let Freedom -Eng |

| 883 | Anonymous | As a Jamaican with Asian heritage, I find this article racist and appalling. Its publication means that Asian Week supports and condones the author's hate-filled views. The author should be forced to apologize immediately. Or be fired. |
| 884 | Paul Dirden | This morning I watched a cat severely attack a squirrel, I screamed stop, and the cat fled the scene. As I came closer I noticed that the Squirrel was in so much pain and so fearful that it did not have enough energy to run from me. I wondered to myself, Even the domesticated animals have no Peace. Let's rethink evolution..PD. |

| 892 | Suzanne | Mr. Eng has shown his true self. He has the right to do that, no matter how much of an idiot he is. AsianWeek is the party responsible for publishing Eng's drivel. AsianWeek should be held accountable, or else face Americans' right to boycott and pull their advertising dollars out of that publication. Shame on you. |
| 893 | Cy Wong | I am appalled at the fact that the Editor would allow
such to be printed, since I know for a fact, that Asians and other ethnics have survived on the backs of what African American or Blacks have
protested and died for in this country.
I am also ashamed to hear this coming from one
who no doubt has any knowledge of the history
of this country. |
