Shelley YamaneAn apology is also owed the Asian American community for having to suffer the embarassment and shame of your blatant expression of racism. With one stupid article you have reversed the efforts of many of us who work with other people of color for inclusion.
Amaurita KanaiI am deeply hurt. I am an African American married to Japanese immigrant. I also speak Mandarin as I lived in Beijing.
Cheryl DavidI do not agree w the publication - I do agree that it is a wake-up call to our Asian Am brothers and sisters to not perpetuate the incorrect notions people such as Eng have. If you are a fellow Asian/AsianAm please promote racial harmony. We can't call other out on stereotypes when we ourselve are subject to the same degradation. I know there are some closet racists out there - read more about US history, real US history. "Model minority" indeed - disgusting.

David ChaiThe view expressed by Eng is personal, and as such, is unacceptable to be printed as a public information.
It's life, just get over it !Whether what Kenneth Eng said was right or wrong, it's anyone's own opinion, but one positive thing did brought out over this event. It brought out not only the "sense and sensibility" of those so-called Asian "leaders", but also show the faces of those black hypocrite - the black "leaders". Btw, where the hell were them when the Asians were assaulted - physically or verbally, by the blacks? Remember what Shaquille O'Neal told Yao Ming - "ching-chong-yang-wah-ah-soh." ?? Remeber what Secretary of State Colin Powell referred to the people living in China -- the "Chinamen"??? Remember during the L. A. riot in - the burn down of the Korean business by those black thugs???? Remeber who was that jerk who referred New York as the "Hymietown"????? ..........
Anonymousignorance kills.. ken eng's inappropriate remarks offers no valuable suggestions to enhance social progression towards a positive direction. he just went on a rant. so there is no reason for such garbage to be published.
Jillian BrownAlthough the article should never have been published and the termination should have been a bit more immediate, I applaud AsianWeek for termination their relationship with Kenneth Eng. Racism and Hatred should never be tolerated.
Soji KashiwagiTo Asian Week: Stand up and take responsiblity for the hurt you have caused.
Omari TulinagweAs an openly gay Black/Samoan, college-educated executive professional male in such a nihilistic society I am brazenly appalled that AsianWeek would allow it's pages to be tarnished by such internalized racist smut. Being a 'brown' man of color primarily attracted to Asian men [seemingly futile at times], I now see why many of my friends say that trying to date Asian is futile because Asians have some pretty warped opinions of us [African-Americans]. This is both true and not ture. This issue is far from over. Actually what Mr. Eng has done is allowed his ignorance to put the spotlight on what may have or have not been permeating between the two cultures [Asian and African Americans]. I have a great many Asian friends State side and abroad [Japan, China, Vietnam, etc.] and this has caused us to have free, open dialogue on the stereotypical ways in which we view each other. I hate what Kenneth Eng has written and want to see him stricken from AsianWeek, but I also want to see the two cultures come together and address how and why such an article could have been written in the first place.
Ann LauIf the Fangs fail to personally apologize and fail to fire Mr. Samson Wong, then we should refrain from patronizing any of AsianWeek's advertisers. The Fang's attempt to create hatred in order to sell their dying newspaper is despicable.
IIdriss Stelley FoundationThe staff at ISF joins me to sign this petition. At a time when our Black Youth is heavily criminalized, in sink with gentrification and landgrab, Eng's article is not incredibly undocumented but also extremely dangerous, fueling racial tensions in the "most liberal city of the world"... The Editor of Asian Week not filtering this tragic piece out is inexcusable. Hopefully this horrible glitch will bring our Black, Latino, Asian communities, and the community at large to refocus on bridging racial gaps and correcting ignorance, and make us all proud of San Francisco again Our sense is there is no need to fire Eng, who only sadly mirrors racial stereotypes, and enacts internalized racism. He needs to be educated, as the whole Asian Week team does for allowing such tragedy. And a public apology from Asian Week to ALL OF US is in immediate order! mesha Monge-Irizarry ISF, Director SF Bayview National Black Newspaper Reporter & member of:: Hurricane Relief Board ADFE (Board of Association of Socialist French Citizens Abroad ) Youth Enpowerment Funding Advisory Board, SF City Gov. 813 Patrick Monk.RNAn insult to one is an injury to all.
Marlon CrumpNone, except for the fact that at least we all know how he feels and where he stands. Of course, I'm not sure if he would tell the average black man his views or hatred.
Yangfan WangExposing our "warts" does NOT mean printing racist trash in the op-ed column. For SHAME.
dorinda morenowe the unwilling led the the unqualified have been doing the unbelievable for so long with so little we now begin the impossible with nothing, and then this not yet potty trained spoil brat kid of only 22 gets hired with a track record of hatred and gets this kind of publicity when we have the neocons to deal with. what next? he'll be hired by the right to sit on some commission on race relations? he needs to be unhired and give the job to someone worthy of the ask of pulling multicultural harmony forward not backward. fire the guy, now and send him back to his mother for learning basic respect. dorinda moreno, elders of 4 colors 4 directions.

Gar J. ChanIt is shared the views expressed by Mr. Eng only perpetuate hate and insensitivity. To have AsianWeek further allow such views be voiced reflects poor judgment. The resulting debacle and negative energy thus far deployed could/should have better been spent to make this world a better place.
joann nishihara-kujaskiI was absolutely stunned by the article. I thought a KKK member wrote the article. Obviously the writer is a promoter of hatred and stereotyping. My "Black" boyfriend is a model of kindness, intelligent thinking, generosity and acceptance of everyone. In fact his response was that the article was written by someone who had a lot of pain and unhappiness in his heart. We hope that the author is touched by some kindness and love in his life.

AnonymousI think that his comments were horrible and this issue needs to be addressed. His comments were stereotypical and does not look at African-Americans from a gesalt perspective. He based his comments on his "experiences". He has not spoken with every African-American person in the United States. African-Americans have been trailblazers, we have set a precedent for other races (i.e. the civil right movement). Where would he be without the blood, sweat, and tears of African-Americans? This is a sad day in the history of Amercia!!

Mary BullI don't condemn your right to print such trash, but I do scorn the bigoted views presented in it. Bigotry, by definition, has absolutely no shred of social responsibility or rational thought--it is blind, irrational hatred. If you wish your publication to have the stigma of racism , like Nazism, that's your perogative; however, I will never pick up your worthless rag again.
Doris ChanPerhaps Kenneth should seek psychiatic help for low self-esteem . A person would would write something like that is indeed a troubled individual or is trying togain fame by dispensing sensationalism. BORTAT?
