Upon 13th January 2016 ASDA informed GMB of their proposal to change the canteen offer within stores. This could result in the closure of the breakfast offer, removal of chilled vending machines and removal of free tea, coffee and toast which is available within it's smaller stores.
GMB are aware from speaking to members and colleagues that this is an emotive subject and understand how valuable these facilities are to you as hard working, dedicated colleagues within ASDA.
We are therefore requesting that you sign the petition so that this can be presented both through the consultation process and Andy Clarke CEO to ensure ‘Your Voice’ is heard on this matter.

Please keep our canteens and vending machines open! I use them all the time, as do a vast majority of colleagues in Stowmarket 4989. If it is not making much profit for Asda, charge a bit more Im sure we would prefer that than lose a vital section of our store
Replacing canteen with over priced vending machine chocolatechocolate and sandwiches. Chocolate took off the shop floor 4 fot a £1 and sold 50p each. And multi buy drinks labeled not to be sold separately for Making profit off the staff. Descusting.
ASDA should stop taking us for granted. When we signed up for ASDA they said never again would they put profit above colleagues as it almost killed the business. Many of us work in the chiller / freezer and need the hot meal in the mornings to sustain us!
The canteen isn't just a luxury its a neccessity, they aren't cutting it for themselves so they shouldn't be cutting it for us. I thought the whole thing with asda was 'equality', from managers right down the ladder. This doesn't sound like it.
Have you even considered night colleagues, especially those that work saturday and sundays whom are unable to purchase food from the store? It was bad enough removing the canteen from afternoons and nights. Its takes a few seconds to fill a vending machine!
Keep canteen open
It's a shame that our colleges may lose their job over this because they have nowhere to put them .

worked in Asda canteen for 21 years and just know how the staff love and appreciate Hot Breakfast keeps them happy and a happy colleague is an happy worker also cold mornings it is something hot that makes them work better please rethink this thank you
