Comments: This is a very good idea so that no one else gets hurt. LA is a crazy place to drive. Take care of our pedestrians.

Comments: I'm 100% in favor of closing Spring Street but please be sensitive to the people who live there and need to get into and out of their buildings. I don't even live on Spring Street but I still feel its only right this be taken into consideration.

Comments: We, the residents of the Historic Core have been asking the city for months to close Spring Street during Artwalk. Now, an infant is dead. He'd still be alive if the street was closed...its that simple. There's no excuse now, Spring Street must be closed during Artwalk events.

Comments: Please close it! As a former resident of San Francisco and New York City I am proud to see downtown attracting foot traffic, but this means we now need to take steps to protect the pedestrians! Please close the streets and lets have this be a fun and safe event!

Comments: It's truly a tragedy what happened at this month's ArtWalk, one no one wants to see repeated. It's sad that precautions couldn't have been made before this life was lost, but let this be the last one. This event has gotten more and more popular and thus the crowds have gotten bigger. Please, let's protect the people and their loved ones who come out to enjoy a night of art, music and community in our beautiful city.

Comments: I've never even been to Art Walk but if I went I think having a car-free pedestrian section is a great idea. Cities do it all over. SF closes big sections of streets in Golden Gate park on Sundays for bikers and walkers. People will find other places to park.

Comments: The grandmother of the infant that was killed is a colleague of mine. I was also present at the LA Art Walk this same evening. I had a fantastic time, but I also made many comments about the dangerous combination of large amounts of pedestrians and automobiles. For such a city-wide and large-scale event, the streets should be closed.

Comments: The Art Walk is a great event for the growing downtown L.A. community. Because of it's massive popularity the city needs to close down the streets around the heart of the event, so everyone can safely enjoy it!

Comments: The first time I was able to spend some quality time with Joe Moller, Executive Director of the ArtWalk, I suggested that Main Street be closed. It's a Metro bus route so it would be difficult, but the character of the ArtWalk would change into a real strolling, view of our Downtown Los Angeles. Would the residents complain about how will they park their cars? "Pay them off." -TK
