Comments: Please CLOSE THE STREETS FOR ART WALK LOS ANGELES! Public transportation is more than adequate for the area and it would encourage people to explore and love the city a bit more. :)

Comments: Please close the streets! I almost got hit by a car at the last art walk in June! There are too many people on the sidewalk!

Comments: I was there last week for the mentioned tragedy. Hundreds if not thousands of people being herded onto the small sidewalks so that a few cars could pass on the nearly empty street. Close spring street for a few blocks and this could be such an amazing event. As it stands now, these accidents are going to happen again. Thankfully the car was merely parking. Imagine the potential for tragedy with one of the cars that is actually driving.

Comments: It is such a pity that a tragedy must occur for justice to (hopefully) appear. Reading the words 'car v. stroller' makes me question society's priorities. Let us change that!

Comments: It would be safer for all involved if the art walk was corralled to a designated area and those streets be closed off once a month.

Comments: I was there this past week during the tragedy that happened and before I knew exactly what had happened had already talked to my friend with me about how nervous the equation of cars plus the crazy amounts of people were making me. There have been many instances of this sort with events where there are more people than cars milling about (i.e. the Santa Monica Farmers Market a few years back) that easily can end in tragedy because there's so much going on. PLEASE make this happen. There's no reason once a month there can't be for a few hours some streets blocked off so we as art patrons, and those drivers in the area, can go on about our nite in peace without fear of our safety and the safety of others when trying to just enjoy an amazing ntie of art, food trucks, and music. Also, above you write it happened on July 15th, when it really happened on July 14th...just to get your facts straight.

Comments: Please close the streets for art lover, pedestrians, and children! This tragedy was so unnecessary. As we learned this past weekend from Carmageddon, Angelenos can survive and thrive without their vehicles. Encourage community awareness and use of public transportation, and shut down the streets for Art Walk. Please don't let this child to have died in vain!

Comments: Closing the streets is not only a solid safety suggestion, but could also be a new revenue stream. The closed streets could house vendor booths from major sponsors and retailers that do not normally display at ArtWalk.

Comments: Its an art WALK not an art DRIVE. LA prides itself in its art culture, as it should, but I never go to the art walks simply because of the traffic. And I am an artist! Its a pain to navigate the art walk on foot because of all of the cars. Los Angeles needs to make more effort in creating a pedestrian friendly environment and promote events that encourage people to walk. Walking is healthy and we all know LA has an obesity and pollution problem. Here is one simple thing we can do to help resolve both. Here is another idea: Why not start an art trolly, for free, for the art walks night ? We can shout all we want, but only hope you will listen.

Comments: I'd like to add my support for street closure during ArtWalk. Though, I do feel the proposed closure is quite a bit more than necessary. I think 7th-3rd should suffice, though any closure would be helpful for the community and the businesses that thrive on ArtWalk dollars.
