Comments: There is too much going on during the art walk to have cars driving through as well. As this last month has proven, the streets should be closed for safety!

Comments: This is a HORIFIC TRAGEDY!!!! As with Farmers Market… these streets should be closed in order to allow families a fun and danger free zone!

Comments: These specific street should be closed between the start of Artwalk to 2:30am. I don't want this scene to get out of hand. Its important that people drink responsibly and be aware that this event is an all ages. Keep in mind this is an ART event, not Oktoberfest. I hope changes are made for the next walk.

Comments: Streets should be closed more often. Not just during Art Walk - but as often as possible. Perhaps every Sunday in 2012.

Comments: I strongly agree with Victor. The cars must be banned during this busy time when people are trying to share art and love, not tragedies like this one.

Comments: The DTLA Artwalk is becoming increasingly popular among people living in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange Counties. I think this is a great monthly event that brings together so much culture in a condensed space -- one that definitely is not suited for cars. I think the streets should be closed to cars. It would make the experience much more enjoyable for everyone around (well maybe not the drivers, but they should spend less time in their cars anyway). More importantly, we see how tragedy can strike in an instant. Let's protect the people to minimize the risk of something like that happening again.

Comments: i do support this concept, however, i think it is vital to the art walk and dtla to make affordable, safe parking available should the streets be closed for the art walk.

Comments: My signing of this is not reactionary, as I believe this incident mentioned was a total accident and could have happened anywhere regardless of the street being closed off. Rather, I believe closing the street would make the invent more enjoyable because of the increased ease of movement, increased event space, and a signal to the rest of los angeles that the downtown art walk is a different kind of event in LA all-together, centered and geared wholly tot he pedestrian.

Comments: As a resident of DTLA and a former resident of Spring St, I have seen first hand how the streets swell up with people during Art Walk. It is a very unsafe climate for pedestrians - no matter how safe the driver is. The fact that there are a number of bars in and around the area does not help the situation. It is the best way to safeguard the safety of Art Walk patrons.

Comments: I believe that the true spirit of Art Walk is gone, and has been for a while. It has turned into a Bar Crawl and has nothing to do with the galleries that open their doors to local talented artists. I used to be at Art Walk every month for years and have stopped in the last 8 months because I was tired of the rowdy college fraternity type atmosphere. Such a shame that a precious baby lost its life. Forget closing off the streets......Get rid of it all together.
