Name: Rick Mendoza on Jul 16, 2011Comments: Having witnessed the growth of the Downtown LA Art Walk over the past two years I'm surprised that there have not been more traffic related accidents. The number of visitors has grown so much that it is time to consider serious traffic control measures for Art Walk night.Flag

Name: Jim Marquez on Jul 16, 2011Comments: a baby was killed. this is nuts. street parking should not be allowed. make the curbs red. cut off access except to vendors & talent. in many places around the world, in major cities, streets are completely shut down for community events, some even perm. the hours of 7pm-11pm shouldn't be that much of a headache. that's what lots are for. get those damn food trucks out of there first and make room for the cars. star shuttles from union station ferrying people from red line & gold line trains. business owners should offer a free drink with the presentation of a metro ticket. something has got to be done to lasso this other than cops on bikes at various intersections.Flag

Name: Sandra Jane Salana on Jul 16, 2011Comments: Spring, Main and the surrounding streets have become completely grid-lock on Artwalk evening with cyclist and pedestrian popping out everywhere making it a very dangerous situation. It's time to close it and re-route traffic and parking that night from 4pm to mid-night. People are still coming into the area after 10pm to party so re-opening it too early would still be a problem. Sorry residence, but, it's Artwalk Dtla.Flag

Name: Joseph D Christman on Jul 16, 2011Comments: I've been attending the Artwalk for over 5 years now, and have seen it grow exponentially. The numbers of attendees has swelled to the point where it is no longer safe, let alone comfortable, to limit pedestrians to the sidewalks. It can actually become more cost-effective and profitable/attractive to businesses/customers to close certain sections of dtla to cars for this event, and spend less time/energy negotiating the relationship between the two. Please close these streets to cars during this event.Flag

Name: Julia Dole on Jul 16, 2011Comments: In the nae of safety and sanity, big, densely attended events like the artwalk need to go the burning man route: cars parked elsewhere, streets closed, and patrons walk or bike throughout the event.Flag

Name: Kim Cooper (founding Treasurer/Curator, Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk) on Jul 19, 2011Comments: It is past time for a responsible civic entity to step in and do the essential public safety work that the management of the Art Walk non-profit is unwilling or unable to do. I support the closure of Spring Street during Art Walk as merely one step towards creating a safe and sensible plan.Flag
