Too often the commissions are awarded using the flawed capitalists criteria and go to the art establishments blue chip artists, I have no idea of how funds could be distributed, but maybe there should be a cap on the cost of individual projects to avoid both unreasonable expense and the alienation of the general public who are justifiably offended by high priced public art. It is my belief that artists should be paid wages in line with other craftmen and that art should not be subject to speculative investment, that way art can become something everyone can afford and that the public will be able to view and respond to all kinds of art without anger and bias. |
