Rt. Hon. David Cameron Prime Minister 10 Downing Street London Dear Sir, Mrs. Arti Kumar and her two sons Ravi and Akash came to the UK in 2007 as asylum seekers and were eventually located to Middlesbrough in 2008. The family was torn apart when her daughter was kidnapped after a raid on their home by Islamic extremists (Taliban) and her elder son was beaten and left for dead. The family tried unsuccessfully for two years to find their daughter Rekha. During this period the turbulent atmosphere in Afghanistan deteriorated for Hindus living in Kabul. The Kumar family sold their clothing business and through the help of an agent, travelled to Lahore, Pakistan and were informed by the agent, that due to lack of funds only three of them could be helped to seek asylum in the UK. Mr. Kumar’s whereabouts are not known to the family for the last 4 years. The Kumar family has been informed by the UK Border Agency to make arrangements to leave voluntarily or their removal will be enforced. It will be a travesty of justice if this helpless and vulnerable family is deported to Kabul when people are still being abducted by the Taliban. According to the BBC, on Sunday 27th March 2011, 50 police officers were abducted by extremists. On behalf of Hindus living in the UK, I implore you to save this family from being deported to Afghanistan, where they mat face torture or imprisonment. Most humbly and respectfully, I am asking you to intervene and to save the Kumar family from being deported. Yours sincerely, The undersigned
