This petition is to ask Liverpool City Council to allow tables and chairs outside in Arthouse Square, in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool.
The original idea behind the regeneration of the Ropewalks area was to make the area more attractive, with European-style squares where people could enjoy al-freco lunches, sit out in the summer sunshine or simply read a newspaper over a coffee. However, the reality is that there is very little in the way of food or coffee-led outside dining in the area, most of the squares are dominated by establishments selling alcohol, or are not used at all, other than by skateboarders and people performing stunts on bicycles!
We believe that Arthouse Square represents a fantastic opportunity for an outdoor area done differently, with established food-led businesses such as Tapas Tapas and the FACT centre keen to be a part of this change. We believe it would not only be of benefit for local residents, but also tourists who visit this most historic of areas in the city looking for a European outdoor dining experience.

Mr John Farrell, United Kingdom4 years ago Comments: I agree that regeneration is far better than demolition. As a major city of culture we need to continue to develop and diversify what we have to offer to the rest of Europe and the world. We travel to many countries to experience exactly what is being asked here by Tapas Tapas on our own doorstep. Please allow this transformation to take place, it will only enhance what we have set in motion in 2008.
