Name: Sarah McEvoy on Aug 12, 2010Comments: This seems extremely petty to me. Having lived in Arlington my entire life I am extremely shocked that County employees would partake in this spiteful behavior. Businesses such as Screwtop, as well as the bakery, are bringing Arlington revenue and notoriety. If there are regulations against sandwich boards, then the business owners should be given the regulations in writing. If proper documentation is ignored and a problem arises or persists with a business citations should be given, meetings should be had, and the issue should try to be resolved harmoniously, but to abscond with said business' personal property should be the very last resort, NOT the first resort.Flag

Name: Lauren Pinson on Aug 12, 2010Comments: Small businesses like screwtop and Bakeshop are what makes Clarendon and Arlington unique! Destroying the signs was a completely wasteful way to selectively "enforce" this ordinance. Why not warn them first instead of stealing? In tough economic times, the county of Arlington needs all the tax revenue it can get. Destroying the signs did nothing to help the bottom line for the county.Flag

Name: Christine O'Connor on Aug 12, 2010Comments: Please support small businesses of Arlington County. They have greatly improved the vibrancy of our Courthouse-Clarendon community, provided jobs for our resisdents, and have built the tax base for the county. Sandwich boards, in good taste, should be allowed to encourage residents and visitors to our town to visit these businesses.Flag
