Yesterday, August 11th, on 1025 N. Fillmore St. sandwich
board signs were taken from 2 small businesses without notification or warning and
destroyed by an Arlington County employee. These signs cost anywhere from
$100-$200 per business. The signs were placed out of way of pedestrian foot
traffic and were of no harm to anyone. These signs, designed in minimalist good
taste, help new small businesses on this street let the public know that we are
"open" for business. See link for image of the sign before it was
taken - http://www.arlnow.com/2010/08/12/county-employee-targets-signs-on-struggling-fillmore-street
So why are sandwich board signs not allowed? I would like for you to join me in
signing this petition "allowing for sandwich boards in Arlington
County." I will bring this petition before the board at the next county
meeting. Thank you, -Wendy Buckley, Arlington Small Business owner &
