Name: Peggy Marsh on Feb 23, 2013Comments: Taylor parent of 2 in a the Bellevue Forest planning unit slated to move to Jamestown. Key and ASFS should not be hybrid neighborhood/choice schools; they should be one or the other. Excluding them from the current boundary discussions appears arbitrary, especially when the ASFS neighborhood stretches Taylor's boundaries at the expense of its nearby neighborhoods just to the north. APS needs a comprehensive plan, not a piecemeal approach that will only force these questions to be revisited in a few years' time.Flag

I'm building a house on N Vernon Street and leasing a house on Vermont. Both are walking distance to Taylor - now the plan is to move us to a different school. BAD PLAN!Flag

Name: Melissa Hall on Feb 24, 2013Comments: Taylor parent. ASFS and Key should start functioning as neighborhood schools. One need only look at the huge expanse of the county that is assigned to Taylor to see that a Clarendon/Rosslyn neighborhood school is needed. Also, all the choice schools, ASFS, Key, ATS, HB, should be part of the discussion. The choice schools are nice to have, but not when it comes at the expense of the quality of education (due to overcrowding at non choice schools) and safety (due to lengthy bus rides) as the rest of the north Arlington school population. One the lottery system was required, the choice schools ceased to serve their purpose (they are not a "choice"). A system where the few that are lucky enough to win the lottery get arguably a superior education is patently unfair.Flag
