Comments: Considering these issues might also help Taylor ease its own crowding, as it is bursting at the seams because so many students attend it who don't even live near it.

Comments: Proximity needs to be more of a consideration. We are 1 mile from Taylor and 2 miles from the new school, but are most likely going to be moved to the new school. All schools in the overcroweded area need to be involved in the boundary discussions.

Comments: Arlington Science Focus School is 150 yards from my house. Yet my son is not given the option to attend there, instead he must be bussed to Taylor nearly 2 miles away. With all the cost-cutting to school bus routes this year, how does it make sense not to let my son walk to ASFS? Taylor is in no way shape or form part of my neighborhood (you have to cross both I-66 and Lee Hwy to get there), but it is defined as my neighborhood school. At a minimum ASFS should be open to all students within a 1-mile radius of the school.

Comments: The lack of transparency with regard to excluding ASF and ATS as part of the review process is troubling. In addition, priority should be given to allow current walkers to their neighborhood schools to remain walkers.

Comments: Taylor parent. I agree with the spirit of this petition. To echo an earlier comment, I fear that the effort to make the best boundary decisions possible has been undercut by the misguided decision to severely limit the scope of schools considered during this initial phase. How can we be afforded the luxury of retaining choice schools when we lack badly needed neighborhood schools?
