We would like to voice some opposition to the proposed Western Expansion “Area 10” Development and its impact on local amenities, facilities and people.

Join us also on Facebook - Area 10. See our blog for detailed images of proposals we oppose.

There is a general understanding Area 10 will go ahead, but… A new planning application is causing safety issues to local residents and school travelling children.

Safety aspects of 1000's of children having to cross a main road twice daily each way for many years to come to commute to Hazeley Academy are not acceptable!

Its car park entry & exit will be visually impaired by the large number of children crossing the roads in two places. The chosen crossing locations will severely restrict drivers’ vision when trying to enter or exit this car park. Cars arriving from or departing to the south will have to cross this proposed “redway path” twice. Through traffic will also be restricted especially during times when school attending pupils cross the road commuting to their school.

We are opposed to the double road crossing idea between two new perpendicular turnoffs located within approximately 50m (150ft) of each other; opposed to increasing the existing roundabout thereby enhancing drivers’ safety and creating an underpass for every present and future child’s safety. We also believe that traffic lights here are NOT a viable solution!

In addition, the traffic congestion that is created by introducing traffic lights on both V4 & H4 in 4 places required only by planning for perpendicular entry and exit routes without underpasses into Area 10 is not taken into full consideration. 3 New traffic lights (junctions 3, 25 & 26) on the V4 in approximately 0.8 miles between the  H3 and H4 is ludicrous considering the increase in traffic volumes!

The above is especially true when realizing that Area 10 includes 4330(!) proposed homes, thus in excess of approximately 6000(!) additional cars on our local roads, in addition to the numerous cars already on these roads, having to pass these lights.

Note: Our Facebook page for Area 10 displays the images for all intersections and proposed interim and final road layouts.
