Name: Sandy Robertson on Mar 29, 2009Comments: My wife and I are members of the NTS, and regular visitors to Arduaine, our favourite garden in Scotland. We are incensed that the NTS are proposing to close the Garden, and wish you well with your efforts to keep it open. I have already emailed my complaint to the NHS, but as yet I have not had the courtesy of a reply. Would it be useful to set up a group of "Friends of Arduaine", who would pay an annual subscription in exchange for free entry, discounts at local hotels and B&Bs, talks from the staff, even the chance to physically help with the work that needs to be done to keep the garden looking at its best Just a suggestion - good luck with your talks with NTS.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 29, 2009Comments: please keep it open as many livelihoods, including mine, depend on it indirectly & directly through through tourism. It is also essential to retain beautiful gardens such as this particularly in an area like this, not to mention the diversity of species that it contains..Flag

Name: Madeline Crawford on Mar 30, 2009Comments: I have enjoyed Arduaine Garden for over 15 years now. It is a serene and comforting place and has been the setting of several school and community events. I still cherish the pictures of my 16 year old daughter dressed as a victorian child at Arduaine Gardens 12 years ago. I feel that my experience of the gardens is not dissimiliar to many, and should be available to future generations of parents, and children in the local area. Please keep Arduaine Gardens open!Flag

Name: Kathleen Ferguson on Mar 30, 2009Comments: This is a beautiful garden which will be lost if not maintained. As the owner of a smaller but similar west coast garden, I know that if the garden is neglected for even a short time it will quickly be taken over by bramble and self seeded plants and cost much more to restore than it would to maintain.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 31, 2009Comments: Wonderful gardens. All those plants carefully nurtured over 100 years. We could not believe that the garden could turn to an unkempt wilderness or a housing estate. There are so few attractions of this nature to visit in the vicinity for those not keen on "on sea" or very physical activities.Flag
