The Petition

The conditions the workers endure in Apple's Chinese factories are similar to those of slave labor. In addition to moral issues there are practical issues with slavery: Any society that practices slavery is a society that is far less innovative than a society that does not.

Recent news has made it clear that the paradigm of cheaper products assembled in off shore manufacturing facilities is actually very expensive in very stark individual and economic terms.

Apple should strive to be an innovative, forward thinking, American company and produce products in the United States employing workers in decent conditions. We understand that we will pay more for these products and will be happy to do so.

What we are unwilling to do is support a company that in the Twenty-First Century is using manufacturing facilities that "employ" workers in intolerable conditions. We are unwilling to support your ridiculously high profit margins that have a foundation built on human suffering. We are unwilling to purchase "cheaper" products at the expense of the innate rights of any individual or the U.S economy.
