Antiques Arcades Policy

We are calling on the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to adopt an Antiques Arcade Policy, which is aimed to protect Portobello Road's world famous antiques market. In the Policy, we propose that, in future, all planning developments that involve changes to antiques arcades on Portobello Road are reviewed by elected Councillors, and not passed solely by Council officers under delegated powers.

5 years ago Comments: We must protect Portobello market - I live in a neighbouring street and use the market every weekend - the tourists come to the market as it is 'the world famous antiques market' - the area would be lost without the antiques and the stall holders whose families have kept the dream alive for hundreds of years.

5 years ago Comments: "all planning developments that involve changes to antiques arcades on Portobello Road are reviewed by elected Councillors." Maybe all planning developments that involve changes affecting any stallholder in the market ought to be reviewed by elected representives? Anyway, keep up the good work. xxx
