| 8601 | Anonymous | This memo will really create problems for us "direct-hire" OFWs. For one, I don't think my employer is willing to shell out $USD 8,000. When we were evaluated by POEA during our travel documents processing 2 years ago, our employer were required to sign a form regarding repatriation. Wasn't it enough?! If in case this ridiculous policy is put into place, people like us who are permanent employees out here and would like to go on vacation to the Phils won't be able to do so. Otherwise, we will not be able to come back out if our employers would not pay those ridiculous sums of money.
I doubt where this money goes though. Maybe, for the purchase of a new house or a new car or maybe for a travel spree by those who have their hands on the wealth of the government. In short, corruption!!!
So no to this abusive and corrupt policy!!!! BIN IT! |

| 8604 | Mila Echevarria | Here In Canada, the labour attache, Mr. Frank Luna announced that canadian employers have to sign an addendum contract demanding that the employer pays: 1) 2 way airfare 2) healthcare premiums until the provicial health plan applies 3) termination for good cause only and 4) cost of repatriation of remains.
right now there are successful caregiver applicants with approved Canadian VISA and won't be allowed to leave unless the employer signs the new contract. POEA is holding them up. Hirap na mas pinahirapan pa!
PS original contract to hire the caregiver was submitted 1 or 2 years ago, then NOW they want the employer to sign these additional contract. Most of them won't.
i said on the local newspaper that the new contract "scares Canadain employers away" and Mr. Luna that my good faith is questionable. |

| 8627 | flora araos laluan | we would like to start it here in malaysia too, the abolition of this MC-04...Many Filipinos who are applying through direct hiring especially maids has been stopped. The immigration in malaysia did not accept their application without POEA Letter unlike before they are open to accept it even without POEA approval.. The Philippine embassy, does not want to release also. And they want them to go back to Philippines and go thru agency. These maids does not have enough money to pay the agency. Now if they go thru these agencies (they are not the one who find work for her) ) it's another burden for them to pay instead of giving it to their families. I don't think these employer's will still hire these filipinas. They will just look for another race.
