Name: Harry Shanks on May 24, 2007Comments: The Sun's election day "hangman's noose" sums up the depths to which the tabloid journalist scum will sink. This was the worst attempt at scaremongering I can ever recall. The Daily Record's election day front page was the second worst. May these "newspapers" rot in hell.Flag

Name: Michelle Martin on Dec 7, 2007Comments: The Scottish people are constantly being told lies, and scaremongered into thinking that Scotland, as a country, does not have the potential and the ability to go it alone. The lies and anti Scottish propaganda must stop!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 20, 2008Comments: Englands racism is what causes so much resentment among Scottish people. UK wealth is not distributed fairly, our oil is taken away from us and Gordon Brown is most likely to lose his job because he is Scottish. Scotland must vote for independence, we cant continue to be dominated by people who are ignorant about us, our culture and do not accept a Prime Minister because he is Scottish.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 14, 2010Comments: Sadly, the present situation is actually worse with the Scottish national papers extant and autonomous - or semi-autonomous - than if they became defunct. In that event, the English newspapers filling the gap would take a similar strong anti-independence, anti-SNP stance, but without any credibility - they would be seen as peddling the London viewpoint. If the holding companies - with an instinctive interest in the Union - were smart enough to realise this, an attempt to keep the Scottish titles might be contemplated, but if their sales figures were dire, it is doubtful that private financing of loss-making Scottish papers, just to promote the Union (as the Barclay brothers did with the Scotsman), would seem attractive. So, by boycotting these papers, things can only get better. The demise of the Herald and Scotsman from newspapers with an international outlook and gravitas to parochial, provincial rags, unworthy of a country with even our constrained measure of home rule, is nothing less than tragic.Flag
